HOW TO SEND TRACKS FOR MIXING

  • Before exporting your stems, it's important to ensure that your session is organized. Make sure that all your tracks are named correctly, that your audio files are consolidated, and that any effects or automation you have added are printed to the audio tracks.

  • Next export each track as a separate audio file and be sure all tracks start from exactly the same point in time. Each track should be exported with the same sample rate and bit depth that the track was recorded or produced at.

  • When exporting each stem, make sure to name it correctly, including the track name and any relevant information about the stem. For example, ARTIST_SONG TITLE_STEM_LEAD VOCAL

  • If you have any auxiliary tracks, buses, or external effects that are crucial to the mix, make sure to export those as well. You may also want to include a reference mix or a rough mix of your project to give the mixing engineer an idea of how you want the final mix to sound.

  • Once you have bounced all the stems, zip them into a single folder. Make sure that the folder is clearly labeled with the name of the song, the tempo and key of the song and the session's sample rate and bit depth,

  • Finally, send the zipped folder containing all the stems to your mixing engineer. You can upload them to us at rvrsplay.wetransfer.com

FAQ

  • Mixing or Mastering?

Mixing is the process where we take all of the individual tracks from your song and blend them together to get your song sounding like one cohesive record. Mastering is the final polish added to your already mixed song to get it sounding like it’s ready for the radio.

  • How Does it Work?

Add the services you want to the cart and check out. Then prepare and upload all of the appropriate assets. Once we receive all of the correct assets, we’ll schedule your session and notify you by email. Once we start mixing you can expect your mix or master back after the standard lead time that you choose. After that we will discuss any notes or revisions necessary.

  • How Long?

For standard mixing and mastering jobs expect 7-10 business days from the day you receive the email confirming your session has been booked. You’ll get an email confirming your session within 24-48 hours after receiving all of the appropriate assets. Please use the delivery guide above. Need your mix faster? Choose an expedited delivery service to add to your order.

  • What Do I Get?

Mixing jobs will deliver a final mixed stereo interleaved WAV file at 24-bit/48kHz resolution at a level that’s optimal to be sent off for mastering. Mastering jobs will deliver a final mastered stereo interleaved WAV at your desired resolution depending on your final requested deliverable. If you need additional versions like instrumentals or others, then you’ll need to add additional versions in the store during checkout or add them after your order.

  • How Many Revisions?

We’re confident we can nail your mix/master right from the start, but we offer unlimited revisions (within reason) to get it perfect. Any changes in the production, recording, or sounds will require additional charges. Likewise, we reserve the right to refuse any additional rounds of revisions at our discretion.

  • How Can I Prepare?

It’s imperative that you export all tracks from your session at the exact same starting point so everything is in sync when we import the files. Try to record your session at a minimum of 24-bit / 48kHz or 96kHz resolution and export all of your stems at the same sample rate for the best quality when mixing and mastering. Be sure to print any creative effects you used to design your tone or sound. We will add the necessary EQ, compression, reverb, delay and other effects to blend your tracks together, but will not being adding any creative effects unless it’s discussed in the notes you provide us.
